Welcome! I’m Karma and I have been tasked with the most important job of my life, making a human and keeping him alive! And if that wasn’t an enormous enough undertaking all on its own, it is my responsibility to make sure that life is a good, happy one! YIKES!!!! Who up there thought I was ready for all that???

At any rate, we are here now! I am officially a mom, a single mom at that, to the most amazing person I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, my son Cairo. Cairo came into this life with Down Syndrome.  And if a single mom with a child with special needs wasn’t already a mouthful, try a single mom with special needs herself! Even more than that, I must create successful processes and structures that will allow him to navigate and survive this world. And with such a little support system of my own, I must plan for him to live independently, as he will one day survive me.  All of that is sooo daunting! If I’m honest, the fear and worry that large of an assignment creates is overwhelming, it overtakes me, sometimes feels insurmountable and makes me feel so alone.

Therefore, I created a place of assembly for us to band together and take this voyage as one. We are all here to support and advocate for our little blessings that need special attention.  As the moms and families that love them, we often need many levels of support as well.  Webster’s dictionary defines a clan as a group of close-knit and interrelated families, or a group of people with a strong common interest, that’s us, we are a clan.

As 2^nd in command (Cairo is 1^st) and the official spokesperson of our clan, I want to be a resource for all things parenting and special needs! Cairo’s Clan is here to support single moms, parents, and caretakers as they battle life’s challenges. That support will come by building up the clan with the sharing of personal journeys, supporting those who need lifting up, advocating & teaching so people truly understand, branding ourselves so we stand out, united and being a resource for all things parenting & special needs, because navigating the multiple dynamics of managing both is so challenging!
