11 Ways Cairo’s Clan Empowers Parents and Children

I want to support parents through their actual journey, not the perfect journey we see portrayed in our society.  As I looked for support, role models, someone I could relate to, to give me a point of reference for betterment, I often felt more alone and less able to be helped.  The images portrayed in society and social media seem to make assumptions that all parents and children are created equal.  It appeared to me that there were a certain set of obstacles, with a few resolutions to each obstacle.  It did not take into account all of the complex attributes that create a human, young or old.  It did not account for genetics or the way life experiences play into your perceptions and abilities to maneuver, often reaffirming the low self concept that has already developed about one’s own innate abilities. I got tired, I got angry and after a long while, I got tired of feeling helpless!  I decided to empower myself and do something about it, after all my genius mother named me Karma for a reason.  I decided to be what I wanted to see and find in the world.  I always think of the movie I saw as child called “Field of Dreams” and the whisper that forever stuck in my mind “If you build it, they will come.”  I am building a platform to help parents with the things I have wanted help with and I’m hoping they will come.

  1. I want to help Parents prepare their children for success and set them up for the future, whatever that may look like. It may look like helping parents instill confidence in their children. It may look like creating legacy wealth or plans that will guide them through life with or without us.
  2. I want to give parents tools, tips and productivity hacks that make parenting and life easier. I will create printables that help us plan our life better, such as lists and planners.  I will create coloring books that combine creativity, fun, education, or internal growth such as “I AM” coloring books.
  3. I want to help parents cater to their child’s individual developmental needs or life skills. I will research sensory tools, such as fidget toys.  I will discuss their benefits, drawbacks, and the best fidget tools on the market.
  4. I want to help parents cater to their child’s educational needs.  I will create printables specifically designed to help our children learn such as faces that teach emotions and feelings, flashcards to help with vocabulary, reading and phonics.
  5. I want to advocate for parents and their children.  I will keep us up to date on the latest information about accommodations.  I will advocate and dispel myths about our children’s abilities.
  6. I want to validate every parent’s experience and meet them where they are on their journey.  There is no such thing as one size fits all, or even one size fits most.  Each person has a different experience based on their life experiences, their demographics, and their perceptions.  Perceptions that were built by their experience, their interpretations of those experiences, combined with their genetic makeup, intellectual processing, and emotional sensitivity, as just a few of the factors.  This is a place where your individuality is recognized and valued not devalued.
  7. I want to encourage parents based on the “Best of All” principle, of taking steps towards the progression of a goal, no matter how small the steps may seem. I have spent a lifetime stuck in inaction, because of what I thought a successful process looked like.  I look back and can see that if I had taken what I thought were insignificant steps, they would have culminated into larger progress.  Therefore, the name of the game is action. We are moving away from stagnation, overthinking, perfection, and overwhelm and moving towards action and pride in those actions no matter how small or spontaneous they are.
  8. I want to build a community where we all meet to support one another, share experiences and knowledge we have acquired that helps us on our individual paths.  Whether it be the latest research or just real-time information. I want this to be a place of trust and a preferred resource when you are not quite sure where to turn, we are a clan!
  9. I want to write a weekly blog post that helps parents on their journey from an extremely relatable perspective.
  10. I want to provide equipment for our journey that displays our unity and helps us proudly set ourselves apart, such as branded book bags that hold our tools, t-shirts that express our messages, journals and planners that hold our thoughts and plans and coffee mugs that hold our morning’s gold.
  11. I want to normalize the differences that those with special needs possess by bringing understanding of the fullness of everyone’s being. This is done by bringing balance to perspectives of what defines a strength or a weakness.  This is also displayed by embracing true authenticity, self-love, self-awareness, and objectivity.

I hope some or all of this sounds interesting to you. I hope that you will finds this information helpful and come to join our clan. Together we will overcome every challenge we face, one victory at a time!
